A Super Long Tuesday

Tuesday was a long day. I worked from 11:45am to 10:30pm. The customers were out in flocks.

I only stopped once to take a 30 minute break. That was it. My feet and knees were killing me by 7pm. I thought I was going to freaken die.

Change.....

I cannot tell you the number of customers that wanted to give me change yesterday. I mean, its fine that they do, but it slows me down. I have to wait for them to dig it out of their pockets or purses.

Speaking about purses, I dont understand the concept of them, if they are not going to keep them organized. In the past 4 months working at Staples, I encounter 1 customer that had her purse organized. I mean it was nice and clean. Every thing had its place and she could find it quickly. But the majority has them so full of crap that they cannot find anything. I stand there for ever while they dig to find a freaking penny. Oh come on, I think to myself.

Huge Order....

I had several orders yesterday. But this one woman, wanted 2400 pages printed on both sides, and folded. Normally this would be no problem, but about 1/2 way threw her order, the b&w high speed copier, decided that it wanted to print extra lines in the copies. I did not notice the mistake until her order was completely done. I had to re-cycle half of the papers. And reprint the order on a slower machine.
The Folder is on the blink too. It has two buttons, one to run them automatically and one to send one at a time through. Well guess which button is broke? The automatic one is broke. So I had to stand next to the folder and push the button 2400 times. My thumb got its workout for the day.

Babysitting.....

I spent the better part of 2 hours cleaning up a paper clip display. The paper clips are stored in an outfit like a candy dispenser. Many slots to choose from. I had to clean out each pocket and put the correct paperclips in.

I had two ladies come in wanting me to basically babysit them, while they made business cards on our self-serve business card design program, while they allowed this child (3 years old) to run the store. Guess where he went? the paper clips. He grabbed a hand full and threw them on the floor, then grabbed another hand full and threw them on the floor. Well there were paperclips all over the place. I did not notice this until after he did it. I kept my cool with him and said nothing. I kept my cool with the stupid parent too. I said nothing to them either. But the gal on the register (which has kids) went up to the child and said, now they are on the floor, you need to put them back. She said it in a child's voice, soft and nice. She did say it loud enough for the parent to hear, but the parent did not care. She just stood there looking at me like nothing was wrong.

That is what is wrong with kids these days, the parents just don't care what their child is doing. Hello we should not have to babysit your child while you shop in our store. What is wrong with this picture?

The child did however pick up a lot of the paperclips, but there were tons left on the floor, and since its my area to clean, I had to do it. I did however see a magnet on the door at the office, I went over there and took it, I used it to clean up the paperclips. I am glad I thought of if, cause I think I would have still been there cleaning them up.

Old and happy....

This guy came in to make copies in the self-serve area, I said hello how are you today. His reply was quite interesting....

He said " I woke up this morning stretched out my arms and did not feel wood. Today is a good day" He had a huge smile on his face. I just stood there and thought about it. He was talking about a casket. Yeah I know I am slow. He said I see you got it now. he laughed at me. He said I am 92 years old and still going.

It funny, I dont even remember driving home last night. I remember setting up my video and climbing into bed. That is all I remember. I woke up this morning at 8:30am. It the first time in a long time that I slept that late. I am normally up at 7am.

I work 6 days this week, so off to work I go.
Have a great day all,
Allen

- - you make my legs and knees ache describing your day
- - - - my purse is organized. You can be proud of me. I only buy the kind with lots of pockets and dividers. Plus it has an extra divider insert.
- - - it's terribly ironic that an office store has office machines on the blink. However, it gives repair men something to do.
- - - How did some of our library patron's kids make it down to your store? Yup, we have them, too at the church. I will tell them what to do and the mom will say, "Ms Lynda doesn't want you to do that." The mom never says, "That's not the way to behave." We have good books on parenting for those parents but even if they read them, they still would have to implement the methods.
- - - very cute about the old guy's casket joke.
- - - - and it's time for me to get some sleep. Great update!
