I started this project because I was sleeping on a mattress that was on top of tubs.
I call it my 2x2 bed. I used 19 2"x2"x8' boards, and 4 1"x12"x8'. I wanted my bed to built up high so that when I got out of bed, I could just slide down to my feet. I built the bed 32" off the floor. I also wanted to build it longer than what my mattress was. My mattress is a full size mattress, and my feet hang off the end of it. So I built it 7' long. I took blankets and pillows and filled in the 1' extra space. It turned out better than I expected.
I started this project after work today at 11:30am. I just finished a few minutes ago, @ 7pm.
I am super happy with it. I have a ton of space under the bed for storage.
As you can see, it looks pretty good. I cannot wait to sleep tonight.
Have a great day all,
Allen

You are one handy man, Allen! If you lived closer, I would consider hiring you to work on this old house of ours. But you said you would never come back to these mountains! I am happy you are back blogging fairly regularly. I missed you a few days.
That's very creative! Makes me think of the Lincoln Bedroom at the White House, I heard it was not long enough for Lincoln...nobody was as smart as you I guess to extend that bed!
My cousin has a bed so high that you have to climb up in it, well I did anyway, when she let me sleep in it. It is a king too. Ahhhhh it was so comfy!
BTW, your bed looks nice,
Aren't you the clever one! And handy, too! It looks nice! Sleep tight! Don't let the bed bugs bite! (As I always said to my kids!)
