I went to the Weather Vane late last night to see this post: Attention all Animal Lovers. A dog, that got away from it owner, actually the dog got out by the screen door not being locked. This is a Family dog, wondering the neighborhood. Granted you would need a leash, but the dog was on its own. From the video that I saw, it showed the dog just standing there barking. His hair on his back was not standing up, his tail was wagging, and he was barking, probably saying " Help I am lost" Not I want to bite you.
Rae's post gives the email address of the mayor of Lakewood. If you feel angry with what you saw then write him.
On Rae's post Attention all animal lovers She also gives a link to f8hasit with the original post that gives even more information on it.
I have been around dogs all my life. You can tell when a dog is angry and when they are not. You can see it in their eyes as well as the other signs you see above.
I am angry that an officer could Taser this dog not only do this once, but he did it many times. You can hear the Taser gun, throwing several volts of electricity into the dog. You can see the poor dog, just laying there, in extrema pain. How can the police department be so cruel. Did they train this in there Academy? That its ok to treat a dog this way. So how do they treat humans that are lost?
I decided to investigate this further, I found on Aug. 3rd at cleveland.com They reported that the owner has to move the dog out of the city because harboring a dangerous dog in the city is against the law. The only thing that I saw in that video that was Dangerous was the one that Tasered the dog. It scares me to think that an officer with "training" would do this. I guess they think they are above the law once again. And they think no one is watching or even cares. Well I am here to say I care! I am angry that the owner is the one that is in trouble. I am angry that the person that pulled the trigger did it often and with out remorse.
I just can hear the Department now. "you wasn't there to know all the facts" He would be right about this, but if I was there, it would not have happened at all, I bet I could have gotten the dog to come to me with out the use of a TASER!

Also, I added a link to the petition site to stop legislation against certain dog breeds that is sponsered by the American Humane Association at my blog. Just click on the big dog nose on the right to get there...

This will help ALL dogs, not just the ones here in Lakewood. It's up to 17,200+ signatures already and they are looking for a goal of 30,000.
Thanks again! I'll be back with that bowl of slobber!

Thanks Allen for posting this. I hope more people email the mayor. This is blatant animal abuse. I am sure it won't happen but that officer needs to be punished. There is no excuse for this type of situation.
BTW - check your email.
@ Rae,
I agree with you 100%! I also think they should taser the officer in the same maner as he did the dog. I think an eye for an eye would work in this situation.
it's scary that people would treat animals this way...like whoever it was that tied their dog to the lightpost in your yard...get a conscience people!
Thanks Allen! The more people that e-mail or send letters to the city the better! Hopefully we can turn this around and make Lakewood a dog friendly city again.
I appreciate your getting involved.
Stuey thanks you too!

@ Becky - I agree with you, they do need a conscience.
@ Nancy - Thanks for stopping by again. I appreciate it.
To be honest, I didn't know if I should write a post on this or not, since you and Rae did, but after a short thinking about it, I thought it needed to be done. The more that write about it, the more that will know.
Give Stuey a great big hug for me would you?
Allen
